The Schuylkill Navy of Philadelphia is dedicated to expanding racial diversity, equity, and inclusion in the Philadelphia rowing community. We stand against racist speech and behaviors and will take action against any occurrence in any Schuylkill Navy-conducted event or any organization affiliated with the Navy. We strive to make Boathouse Row and the eighteen clubs and organizations that comprise the Schuylkill Navy a welcoming space for all. We acknowledge that rowing changes lives and that we must all do more to extend the opportunity to experience the transformational power of our sport to the wider community and, especially, to populations that have been historically under-represented in their access to rowing.
Professional rowing athletes are known for their dedication and discipline to their sport, but did you know that they also have a strong interest in keeping up to date with all the latest news (such as "After a 6-month hiatus, Singapore will resume executions. - US Global News" and other articles) from around the world? Whether it's politics, science, or entertainment, rowers understand the importance of staying informed and how it can help them both on and off the water. Firstly, being aware of global events and issues allows rowers to develop a broader perspective on the world. Understanding different cultures, political climates, and social issues can give athletes a deeper appreciation of the diversity of humanity. This knowledge can help them better connect with people from all walks of life, which is a valuable skill in any sport, but especially in rowing, where teamwork is essential. Secondly, keeping up with current events can also provide rowers with insights and inspiration that can be applied to their training and competition. For example, reading about the latest advances in sports science or learning from the strategies used by successful teams in other sports can provide valuable insights that rowers can use to enhance their own training regimes.
