Schedule revision #3 posted

The regatta schedule is now posted. Please read this first.

81 clubs, 200 races, 742 boats, 1,400 athletes. Down from 800 boats in 2007, with fewer events this year.

This is the second edition of the regatta schedule. Late adds and scratches. No time changes. Please check back for updates as we receive scratches and late entries. We do not expect to move any race by more than 15 minutes. Several events have only one or two entries and may be cancelled.

There are several events with 7 boats, two heats with 4 boats in one heat and 3 boats in the other heat. We will progress 6 boats to the final: 3 from the first heat, 2 from the second heat and the fastest remaining crew.

Mens Junior 4 and 8 - I spread them as best I could, but 19 entries in the MJ4 necessitates semis, so guys doubling in the two events may be rowing 5 races in one day! It's good to be young!!

Mens intermediate 1x - 20 entrants, so heats and semis on Saturday, final on Sunday.

Mens Junior 2x - 27 entrants, heats, semis and finals on Sunday.

  • Parking

  • Late entry procedures

  • Masters lineup change procedures

  • Results will be posted to our web site continuously and automatically after each race.

  • Volunteers - We need more volunteers. If you have a few hours between races, come to the regatta HQ tent at the Canoe Club and offer your services. It's fun!

  • Registration - There is no registration, but you are welcome to check in with us at the regatta HQ tent at the Canoe Club.

  • Weigh-ins will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday and 8:00 to 12:30 on Sunday and Monday at the Canoe Club. Competitors must weigh in each day they compete. Only one weigh-in per day is required. Coxswains do not weigh in.

  • The safest and fairest way to run 200 races in July heat is to keep the regatta on schedule. We will be ruthless in starting races on time and will not hold races for any reason. Races will not be delayed for crews that are late to the line for any reason. Crews should be in their lanes and, for 2000 meter races, locked onto the stake boat two minutes before the start of their race.

  • Bow numbers - It's the only way we can tell who you are as you cross the finish line. Each crew must supply its own bow numbers. Bow numbers will not be provided; however, bow numbers will be available for sale at the Regatta Headquarters tent at the Canoe Club, $12 for a set of 6. And here are the schedule and other reports:

Changes for 2008: The regatta has been moved to Saturday, Sunday & Monday. The police will not allow any access to the Canoe Club before Saturday morning. So, we've had to cut events to give time for trailers to arrive and unload. The regatta will start at 11:00 am on Saturday and conclude early Monday afternoon to give competitors, coaches and referees time to travel home and be back to work on Tuesday. For this year only, we've dropped the dash races, mixed doubles, parent/child races, and octuples sculls. We will definitely return to the Friday, Saturday & Sunday format in 2009 and bring back these popular events .

We've tried to make a schedule that works for as many of our various "constituents" as possible. Masters sweep races are on Saturday, as in past years. Masters sculling races are on Sunday, as in past years. Juniors races are on Sunday & Monday. Other races are spread over the 3 days.

Kelly Drive will be closed on Friday and trailers won't be able to arrive until Saturday morning, so the regatta will start at 11 am Saturday. The regatta will conclude around 1:30 pm Monday so people have time to travel home and be back to work Tuesday morning. To do this, we've dropped - for this year only - the dash races, mixed doubles and masters mixed quads, parent/child races and octuple sculls. They will definitely be back in 2009. All for national security.
