This is a USRowing registered regatta. The Regatta will be conducted in accordance with USRowing Rules of Rowing.
Competitors info
- Mens and womens singles - Schuylkill Navy medals will be awarded to top intermediate, light intermediate, lightweight, senior and open competitor. Heats Friday evening starting at 6:00 pm.. Semi-finals Saturday morning starting at 9:00 am. Finals mid-day Saturday.
We'll try a different format this year, following on the popularity of the Top Ten races. For this year's Schuylkill Navy Regatta (and not for the Independence Day Regatta), we'll run just two races: mens singles and womens singles. Everyone will get at least two races, three for most competitors. More 1x information
- All masters events are 2000 meters. Only the disabled doubles and novice singles will race 1000 meters.
- The regatta start time is 9:00 a.m. The order of events is fixed and will not be changed. Heats, if required, will start at 9:00 a.m. and be run before the first final in the same order as the finals. In 2004, we had 18 heats before beginning finals at 10:34.
- Weigh-ins will be from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. at #4. Lightweight men - 160 max, no averaging. Lightweight women - 130 max, no averaging. Same for masters.
- The launch area for out-of-town crews is at the Canoe Club along Kelly Drive, next to Robert M. Gillin (St. Joe's) boathouse which is further up the river from Boathouse Row. Trailers can park in that lot as well. Kelly Drive will not be closed. Do not park on the grass as you will be ticketed. Boats and trailers can be left overnight but there is no guard. The police are pretty good about keeping an eye on things.
- There is no registration packet or check-in.
- Competitors are responsible for providing their own bow numbers. Bow numbers will be on sale at the Canoe Club, $12 for a set of six.
- Masters crews are reminded of the rule requiring them to report any line-up changes in writing not less than 2 hours prior to the start of the race. This allows the regatta committee time to recompute the age handicap and announce it to the other competitors prior to the start of the race. Violators risk disqualification.
- Winners of all events will be awarded Schuylkill Navy medals.
- All races will be timed with our state-of-the-art high speed, high resolution FinishLynx camera.
- Results will be processed and distributed by RaceDay software. Results will be uploaded to our web site within minutes of each races' completion. Results will also be printed at the Canoe Club for visiting crews within minutes of race completion.
Entering the regatta
All entries must be entered on-line at Regatta Central by Thursday, June 9. Entries received after this date will be accepted on a "lane available" basis and, if accepted, will incur a $10.00 late fee. The printed Regatta Central invoice, entry fees and competitor waivers are due on Monday, June 13, 2005.
Entry fees: Singles $20.00, Doubles & Pairs, $35.00, Quads & Fours $50.00, Eights $60.00.
Make checks payable to: Schuylkill Navy or pay by credit card at Regatta Central.
Click here to read how to enter.
An optional completely paperless entry system:
Submit all your entries and pay with your VISA credit card at Regatta Central.
Paperless waivers: For USRowing members, Regatta Central maintains a database of members who have sent USRowing a signed waiver that applies to all registered regattas, including the Schuylkill Navy Regatta. Individual USRowing members must fax a signed waiver to USRowing. If you are not a USRowing member or have not sent USRowing a signed waiver, you must still submit a conventional signed waiver to the regatta.
If you do not pay by credit card, print your Regatta Central invoice and mail it with your waivers and fees to: Schuylkill Navy Regatta, #4 Boathouse Row, Philadelphia, PA 19130.
Waivers - one per competitor must accompany each entry. Individual USRowing members may sign a waiver once per year for all USRowing-registered regattas, including the Schuylkill Navy Regatta. Regatta Central will confirm waiver compliance by verifying each entrant's USRowing membership number with USRowing.
Athletes are encouraged to fax their annual waiver to USRowing and ensure that their USRowing member number is included with their roster record in Regatta Central. Coaches who submit entries for their athletes are encouraged to update their rosters and make sure each athlete's USRowing member number is included in the roster.
